Before I received these products, I was a big old ColourPop Fan. They were kind of bothering me with their one release a week money grabs, but this…this launch is a pile of crap (ok, maybe that’s a little harsh).
While unboxing: The packaging is super ugly and lack luster. Surprise, surprise, the photographer must of had that contrast turned up real high. I bought the set of three lip balms that usually come in a box together (you know, making it that much more special), but with this collection I got three separate boxes. What a waste. The highlight puff box is sturdy, but I hate the look of it.
Cheap quality: As I opened the packaging, I was taken back by how cheap things felt. Usually the casings for their lip products feel strong and are of a good quality. These felt light and a little flimsy. The decoration and casing colors were pretty, but it felt like I could put it on the ground and crush it with my foot.
Nitpicking: Even the stickers used to close the highlight container were cheap. They were very difficult to get off the package. It was not an “oh no! I might rip the package.” It was “oh my gosh! why does this sticker keep ripping before I get it off the package?” Ten minutes to get two stickers off is nine minutes too much.
Product quality: I have to say I am really let down with these items. When I saw the collection I thought it was so fun, but in some ways, I think they really missed the mark. There is more to Candyland than pastel colors. The thing I wanted most, I could only get if I spent $140: the game.
I was so excited for the body highlighter puff that I almost bought two. I am so glad I didn’t. I loved the two that I used from other brands in the past: one from Urban Decay (not the honey one, it was marshmallow & no, they don’t make it anymore), and the other was from a lingerie store. Yeah. You heard me. They were both amazing.
This one is so boring and lack luster. I thought it would be eye catching, but it isn’t. It didn’t make me shine. It didn’t have a fun scent. I didn’t feel special. This highlighter looks like a highlighter for a child, and it acts like one, too.
The lip balms really piss me off. They tinted my lips as long as I swiped back and forth ten times. I’m not exaggerating. If anything, I’m underestimating. Two of them appear to be almost exactly the same in the packaging. When swatched, they were identical. I’ll stick to Blistex, thanks.
I am very glad that I didn’t buy the PR Kit because I would have hated everything I wanted and would have felt bad pawning it off on someone on Mercari.
I think that maybe the products were rather poor quality because they spent an arm and a leg on creating the board game that they only included with the fudging PR Kit. They knew everyone would want the game. If you look at the pictures, that’s what makes the products look so good.
I’m so disappointed in them right now that I considered not giving them another chance, but then I opened up my garden variety package.
