About Makeup Candy
We are trying to create a complete list of makeup brands including high-end, drug store, mid-range, influencer, celebrity, indie, etc. It is very time consuming, but we love doing it!
We are actively seeking out new brands to add. We do this through several different avenues, but if for some reason we missed yours or someone else’s, we would be happy to add it. Feel free to leave a comment on the most recent post with a link to the brand’s website; this is the quickest way to get the brand added.
If you’re too lazy to comment, you can follow us on Instagram. You do not need to send a DM. By following us on Instagram, we see everything we need to know on your profile (make sure your website is linked). Once your site is added, go ahead and unfollow. Please note, if you use the follow method without a DM, you will not be notified when your brand is added.
What does Cruelty-Free mean? Well, it means very little. The FDA makes such a great point. Even if a brand is able to say, “We don’t test on animals,” that doesn’t mean past ingredients weren’t tested on animals. Basically, a brand knows that the raw materials won’t harm you because the material in the past was ALREADY TESTED ON ANIMALS. That’s why so many brands are able to say not tested on animals. Essentially a loop hole. Pretty sad to think about. That specific eye shadow palette wasn’t tested on animals, but in the past the raw materials were tested on animals, and they already know it’s ok, so they don’t need to test it on them. Telling a brand to go cruelty-free means SO LITTLE. If they already tested, they already know. Which means the thought of the brands “caring about animal rights,” is an absolute load of malarkey. And a marketing ploy.
Disclaimer
We may not include brands that have been seen as controversial for reasons of racism. We believe in equality of all races. Because of this, we refuse to include brands that have not practiced this belief. If you would like to make us aware of any brands listed, please do so on the most recent blog post. Please include a website where we can verify the claim. Keep in mind if they have apologized and changed their ways, then we may still include them.
Please be aware that not all brands listed will be available in your country. We do not currently note which countries a brand is available, but we may do so in the future.
Some brands listed may be Cruelty-Free and Vegan, but not marked. The indication in the list is based on the company’s own statements. If the company doesn’t specify, we assume they aren’t. Keep in mind that any brands based in the European Union are required to be Cruelty-Free, but still may not be marked on our list.
